Dr. Bo Chen received his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry in China in 2011 (advisors: Prof. Yun-Dong Wu and Prof. Yu-Xue Li). He then moved to the US to conduct postdoctoral research at the University of North Texas (2012-2014, advisor: Prof. Weston Borden) and Cornell University (2014-2018, advisor: Prof. Roald Hoffmann), before joining Pennsylvania State University as an Assistant Research Professor in 2018. In February 2020, he started his independent research career at the Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC) in Spain as an Ikerbasque Research Fellow. His research is characterized by the creative application of computational chemistry to interdisciplinary research at the interface of organic chemistry, materials science, and high pressure science. His recent research focuses on the effect of pressure on organic reactions in solution and in the solid state.
